Championship weekend in Detroit is a four-day trip, not a single game. The 2027 NCAA Men's Final Four is at Ford Field, with semifinal games on April 3 and the championship on April 5, according to the NCAA future-sites schedule. The official Men's Final Four page lists fan events April 2–5.
For a family that follows basketball every March, or a business owner who hosts clients at big events, that's a good test of a question: should we keep coordinating separate cars every year, or own one comfortable van that we use again and again?
What the official schedule tells you now
| Date (2027) | What the NCAA lists |
|---|---|
| Fri. April 2 | Fan Fest opens; fan events begin |
| Sat. April 3 | National semifinals at Ford Field |
| Sun. April 4 | Fan Fest continues |
| Mon. April 5 | National championship at Ford Field |
The Fan Fest overview lists Fan Fest hours at 1 Washington Blvd. in Detroit for April 2–5. As of October 23, 2026, it shows Fan Fest parking as "TBA". It also says Fan Fest tickets will go on sale in January 2027.
Transportation and parking: not finalized yet
We are not going to guess here. As of today, the NCAA's Parking, Maps & Transportation page says "Stay tuned for 2027 map" under stadium parking. The links for local public transit and more parking options are marked "coming soon". Check that page again closer to April for parking, road closures and pick-up zones. Dufourfun Vans has no affiliation with the NCAA, Ford Field or the event. Owning a van does not give you any parking, drop-off, ticket or hospitality access.
Why a weekend like this shows the value of owning a van
- One group, one schedule. A family or a host's guests can travel between the hotel, dinner and fan events together. Nobody is matching up three rideshares.
- A comfortable cabin between events. On a four-day trip, the hours between events count. Reclining seats, shades and room for coats and bags make the downtime easier.
- The same van all season. The value adds up when this is one trip among many: conference tournaments, spring golf, college visits, and client dinners in town.
- A place to talk. If you're hosting clients, a quiet, private cabin on the way to dinner can be as useful as the seats at the game.
Honest tradeoffs
A full-size Sprinter-based conversion is big in a downtown with event traffic. Someone has to drive it, park it and store it after the trip. If you go to only one big event a year, hiring a car service may make more sense. A van makes sense when you use it often enough to justify owning it, and when people ride in it because they like it, not just to get somewhere.
What to look for when you shop
For event weekends, focus on how the seats work for the people who actually ride with you: how many passengers, whether the rear seats suit adults on longer drives, and where luggage and coats go.
