Run a short parked work trial
Book 20 to 30 minutes with the van parked and bring the gear you really use.
- Your actual laptop. Find where it can sit on a stable, supported surface. If there is no fixed table, note that and decide whether a lap or a tray is acceptable.
- Seat reach. Sit with your normal posture and check whether you can type and see the screen without leaning forward from the seat back.
- Camera background. Open your usual video-call app and look at what appears behind you: lights, windows, other passengers.
- Sound. Record a short test with the climate system running and play it back. Listen for vent noise and echo.
- Privacy. Check whether a call can be heard from nearby seats and whether shades or partitions are available in the van you are buying.
- Power and cables. Locate outlets or USB ports near your seat, plug in your charger and see where the cable runs. A cord across the aisle is a trip risk.
Separate what you saw from what is installed
Ask the seller for a written list of the work-related equipment in the exact van, including any table, outlets and network hardware, and whether the internet requires a separate plan. Treat anything not on that list as unconfirmed.
